Collection consists of official and personal correspondence of United States Representative Noble J. Gregory from 1933 to 1970. The bulk of the collection contains correspondence and records associated with Congressman Gregory's eleven terms as representative of Kentucky's First District from 1936 to 1958. His congressional papers include files on the Tennessee Valley Authority, Cumberland Dam project, military academy appointments, veteran affairs cases and letters from prominent state and national politicians. Also held in the collection are banking and business records, campaign materials, newspaper clippings, photographs, personal items, mementos, ephemera and other related materials.

Noble Jones Gregory was born in Mayfield, Kentucky on August 30, 1897. He attended local public schools and graduated from Mayfield High School in 1915. After graduation, he briefly studied at Mayfield Business College before being employed by a survey party constructing a road between Mayfield and Paris, Tennessee.
